Some of my own experiences which will guide you to keep yourself motivated as a blogger even in the hard times. Read inside for more.
One of my status update yesterday on My Facebook Profile was
I have people in my Facebook list who are earning over $5000 in daily basic and then people who struggle to earn $100 in a month. Money making is not all about hard work but smart work.
You might see a lot of aspects in that line, but what I saw was, how people struggle as a blogger in starting and same goes with me. I have struggled for first 4 years of my blogging career and I know how it feels tasting failure for a long span of time. Today I might consider myself as a successful blogger who can earn 10-20 times of his pocket money by blogging, but every time it is not just about the money. It is about the satisfaction success gets along with it.
All those newbies here in this blogosphere, search and struggle for that satisfaction. But blogging is not something where you get success on the very first day, you have to keep making efforts and wait for that moment when you can be satisfied that your work has finally been considered and appreciated.
This post is not about the time you start, it’s not about the time when you succeed, but this post is about those times when you struggle to make a name as a blogger. In this post, I will be sharing some of the ways how you can keep yourself motivated and work to make your future better. This post includes my own experience and advices from some famous personalities in blogging world. Below are the points, I want to share in this post.
Manage your time and be automotive
Internet, Facebook and other social networking sites as well as webmasters forums are a huge distraction for people who are still struggling to be successful. You might just think that creating a network will give you chances to be popular, then you are not 100% right. If you have a good blog and you are settled as a good writer, you will get many followers and contacts easily.
So, here I conclude one thing, stop wasting your time on Social Networks and keep trying something else. If you spend all your time in maintaining something, you wont ever be able to grow that. I am not asking you not to be active n social media, well even I am very much active specially on twitter and Facebook, but I do not allow those networks to disturb me every minute of the day.
Turn off useless notifications (Facebook group notifications, twitter follower notification etc). These networks send you an email every time someone follows you. That is pretty useless. Use your spare time to do something which you do not do usually. Write guest posts on other blogs, organize Google Plus hangouts with people of your your interest and discuss what all you can do to make things happen.
Be clear and planned for what you have decided. Always schedule your posts 24-36 hours before. This gives you an ability to change something if you have missed till the last moment. Use some plugins and tools, like jetpack, so that whenever your post is published, it can be automatically be shared on your social profiles.
Focus on the basics
All of you have a very clear thought in your mind, what you are here for. Well, you can have thousands of other ways to make money, but why did you choose Blogging?? There can be 2 reasons behind that
- You like writing and you want to show to the world, how good you are at it.
- You are going with the trend (If someone else can earn via blogging, why cant I? )
One thing for sure, if you started blogging for the second reason, then you are not here to succeed. You are just here to waste time. So I will just advice you to quit and sit.
But if you are here for the first reason I mentioned, you have a long way to go. Writing is the basic behind every successful blog. In beginning, you should not get distracted and spend all of your time in promoting your posts.
Writing is more important then sharing, and you should always be focused towards it. There would be some posts which you think are not very much useful. Then you seriously have no right to share them across your networks and give your readers an example of your craziness.
When you hit publish, you should have an image in mind that what impact this post will leave on your readers and blog. You can not simple spend more of your time in building backlinks and sharing your posts over the internet, with Google’s new algo updates, it can seriously be dangerous. So, it again tells you to stick to the basic i.e. writing.
Use all your creativity and write informative posts. Try to write something from your side too. Be original so that your readers have a good image of you in their mind and wish to get back to your website.
I wrote about managing your time in the last point, so here again I come on the same, you do have just 24 hours in a day, make full use of it.
Checking stats every hour will give you nothing
It happens with every newbie. In starting, you just want to keep checking your Google Analytics stats every time. You get very excited about every single visitor who lands on your website. Being excited is better, but not too excited that you cant focus on anything else apart from that.
Even I used to do the same in starting. But then I realized, that this will add no value to my ultimate goal. Well, checking and researching Google Analytics stats is a good thing, but not very frequently. You can give a fix time to it (Say an hour per week), where you can get to know how is your site performing in different demographic area and where are your visitors going.
There are many posts, which might not get you even a single visitor in first few days, but if you optimize blog posts for Search Engines, it might take time before your post ranks good in search engines and fetches you traffic. But if you spend hours in writing a post, and then after publishing, you go and check Google Analytics that how many visitors you got to that post, then I think that is useless. It will just discourage you as a blogger and writer. You will just think that hours you spent on writing that huge post were wasted.
Be focused on your basics, manage your time accordingly and do not waste time on useless things. That was all what I wanted to summarize in this post, I hope you liked this post. Let me know in the comments section what you thought of this post.
